Akadeum’s Human Red Blood Cell Depletion Microbubbles are designed to clean up samples with residual erythrocyte contamination, including human whole blood samples following RBC lysis or Ficoll isolation. Use of these microbubbles to remove residual RBC contamination prior to flow sorting can reduce final sort times by as much as 1/3, helping to isolate more cells for better science. How it Works: Akadeum’s Human RBC Microbubbles are gently mixed into the sample where they bind to the contaminating RBCs. Using their inherent buoyancy, the microbubbles quickly and gently float the unwanted cells to the surface. An optional centrifugation step pellets the cells of interest, and the microbubbles, microbubble-bound RBCs, and supernatant are simply aspirated away leaving the untouched and enriched cells behind, healthy, and ready for downstream use.
